Who is Action Dog?
Elana provides a reliable, dependable, and unique dog walking service for people who want their dogs to enjoy life as much as possible.
Action Dog is licensed, bonded and insured.
Our hikes are fun, we encourage dogs to be themselves and sniff, play and explore safely. We use force-free positive reinforcement methods to increase their good behaviour, and we provide dogs an outlet for healthy socialisation. During our hikes we regularly practice basic commands, strengthening their recall and fostering good trail etiquette.

Elana
Elana grew up exploring the arroyos, juniper dotted foothills and aspen filled forests of Santa Fe with her family dogs. After graduating from Santa Fe High and studying at the College of Santa Fe, in 2002 she moved to the Bay Area to work in the performing arts and media production industry. In 2009 she opened Action Dog, East Bay Dog Hiking with her former partner.

Since then, Elana has provided hundreds of dogs a unique opportunity for enriching and adventurous experiences.
After so many years in the beautiful Bay Area, Elana is back in Santa Fe, to spend time closer with family and return to the enthralling landscapes of northern New Mexico that she’s always called home.

Elana expresses her talent and love for photography and her never ending awe of nature on each group hike she leads. She has an especially soft spot for working with timid or fearful dogs, slowly introducing them to the experiences that can allow them to just be dogs, and enjoy their lives to their fullest potential. She fully loves offering enriching off-leash pack adventures and she is on track to complete her dog trainer’s certification with the nationally recognized positive-reinforcement-based CATCH Academy for Dog Trainers. Elana believes in fostering long term and trusting connections with dogs using force-free, relationship building methods only.
